About us

Hi, I'm Chang Hee Kim from Seoul, Korea.

Since I was little, I was a curious child, and I liked to try unique and new things. I also have an active personality, so I love to meet people and I plan and push for things that I've never tried in a new field.

When I was in University as a Fine art and Communications double major student at Whitworth University in Spokane WA, I dreamed of becoming an artist by traveling to see many exhibitions and National museums around the world.

I visited: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Paris, Germany, Mexico, Taiwan, and so many places.

My favorite artist is a well-known Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso, named as 20th century's most influential artist. I like Picasso's paintings because he constantly tried to find a new style of painting. (I am like him for I have a desire to expand my curious brain by trying new art forms.)

Since I graduated 24 years ago, I went back to Korea and had worked at a National T.V. Station and Educational Channels based on my educational background. As a host of the National T.V. (KBS) weekly show “Beautiful House” and “Beautiful Garden,”

I could meet so many famous designers, architects, and professors related to home décor and gardening and could learn how to decorate a home and how to grow plants and flowers.

Not only that, from 2016 to 2017, I worked as an early childhood educator and had the

opportunity to learn and take care of kids from ages 3 to 6.

I now hold an academic certification in Montessori Teacher Preparation from Washington.

Even though I have had many experiences in my life, I still have a desire to expand my knowledge and artistic inspirations which lead me to discover and learn about pottery.

So, I am excited to finally open CHANG-HEE POTTERY to share my experiences and artistic sense.

I love to make decorative planters and vases for plants and home decoration.

I think my colorful, story-telling animal design works help stimulate emotional and artistic sensitivity development in the early childhood stage.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy my works.

I would like to say special thanks to Tybre Newcomer, Professor of ceramics at Spokane Falls Community College for supporting me live as a ceramist.
